Customer Service Advisor - Insurance Underwriter

£19,000 - £23,000 (FTE) + up to 10% salary + benefits
Bristol BS1
• Part time hours
• Full training provided
• Flexible home-working option after probation

About the role

As a Motor and Personal Lines Underwriter in our Bristol office, we’ll train you to become part of a 130-strong, fast-paced team that reviews and evaluates insurance risk for our Personal Lines products, which includes Motor, Home, Travel and Pet insurance.

We understand how important work-life balance is to you, so as well as homeworking, we can also offer part-time options that help you meet your responsibilities outside of work, such as the school run or supporting a partner who works shifts. This includes working 9.30am-2.30pm, Monday-Friday, however we are open to discussing alternative hours that could work between 8am and 6pm.

At NFU Mutual, we're proud to have built an enviable reputation for exceptional member loyalty, which is why 9 out of 10 customers renew with us each year. As our NFU Mutual Agents liaise directly with our customers, you’ll provide an exceptional service to our Agents by dealing with requests about customer policies. Requests could be anything from renewals and mid-term adjustments to brand-new business. Most requests come via phone, and although our Agents can also interact with you via a live-chat function, a large part of your role will be receiving a high-volume of phone calls.

To help you become the best you can be, we provide a 16-week comprehensive training programme that includes a mixture of classroom and hands-on experience. And when the training is complete, we’ll provide a supportive learning environment so you can confidently start your underwriting journey. Your line manager will also support you to build a personal development plan which you can expect to have conversations about all year round.

You’ll be joining a thriving and vibrant team that enjoys group social activities as much as we enjoy helping our local communities and charity organisations.

We’re committed to protecting your health and wellbeing during our recruitment process, so all our interviews are currently being held virtually via Microsoft Teams.

About you

This role is never about getting through calls quickly, but as a strong team player, you always strive to achieve high quality standards and output, even when challenged and working under pressure.

Used to putting customers first you readily consider their requirements and quickly develop long-lasting relationships.

If you have customer service experience and are ready for a role with more scope and career progression, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. To join our team, you’ll ideally:
• Be customer-focused with a strong attention to detail
• Have the ability to make rational and logical decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Actively respond to customer’s needs and develop lasting relationships.

Benefits and rewards

When you join our team, you can expect a supportive culture and an attractive range of rewards and benefits including:
• Annual pay review
• 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + buy more holidays if you love to travel
• Health and Wellbeing plan - cashback for dentist, opticians, physio and more
• Employee Assistance Programme
• Contributory pension scheme, up to 20%, including your 8% contribution?
• £20 contribution to a monthly gym membership - subject to terms
