Description
Develop and lead multiple research projects/initiatives within a research area, that are aligned to DEWA R&D's research strategy and internal/external stakeholder requirements, by implementing mandated practices on research, project management and knowledge management, while having an international reputation and wider contribution to the global R&D community
• Research Projects Planning, Approval & Execution: Plan, initiate and oversee the research programs, projects & initiatives under purview, including planning and managing junior team members' tasks, to achieve project objectives along with development of R&D capabilities and technology specific expertise
• Research Community & Engagement: Contribute to a strategic vision for the research area, publish and present influential papers and/or books, attend workshop and conference committees and deliver invited talks
• Partnerships: Engage with specific stakeholders from DEWA BUs, external R&D centers, Universities, National Labs, etc. to achieve meaningful outcomes for related research projects under purview. Contribute to research centers of excellence in own research program, and support technology management team by coordinating with corporate and industry partners for project/initiative execution
• Best Practices & Business Opportunities: Identify best practices in each research area, especially for planning and executing research programs, to contribute to high quality research outcomes. Provide inputs to research area lead in exploring new business opportunities and possible service offerings for external stakeholders and contribute to development of technical content for initiatives related to research projects under purview, to achieve related objectives
• Research Project Valuation & IP Management related: Ensure accurate tangible and intangible valuation of R&D project outcomes such as impact on IP, reputation, DEWA BU processes, etc. Contribute independently to achievement of IP related objectives including number of publications, invention disclosures and patent grants, and comply with IP management process
• Technology Demonstration: Measure, test and evaluate data on technology demonstration projects in coordination with Technology management team, to enable related objectives and successful partnerships with internal or external stakeholders.
• Budget Planning: Support research area lead in budget planning and reviews for relevant research projects to ensure effective planning and execution of research projects and initiatives, while complying with DEWA process requirements for budgeting
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures: Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner, while contributing to cost-efficient usage of all applicable resources to reduce wastage and unnecessary expense The candidate should have previous experience leading a department and working as a Lead and handled 3D Printing, Advanced Materials, Robotics and AI research areas.
Basic Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in a related discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, etc.
• Scopus-indexed publication records
• Intellectual property (patent) records
• Strong research experience and industrial experience and ability in 3D printing process/flow automation/industrialization/factory/AI/Robotics
• Safety: Follow and adhere to the OH&S Management System Manual as per DEWA's safety standards
• Confidential: Ensure non-disclosure of confidential information to anyone within or outside the Authority, during or after employment in DEWA
• Emiratization: Manage and supervise Emiratization in line with departmental requirement to meet DEWA's strategic objectives
• Training and development: Identify, review and approve training and development needs of direct reports to meet the departmental objectives, and supervise and motivate the development of employee capabilities including alignment to latest trends
• Knowledge Management: Implement DEWA R&D's knowledge management standards across respective projects, to ensure the effectiveness of a continual mechanism for comprehensive documentation, seamless information exchange and knowledge retention
• Minimum 10 years experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• Preferred experience related to DEWA R&D projects portfolio
• Experience handling Emiratization
• UAE Nationals with Masters degree and required experience may apply.
