What Is the Opportunity?
This role is responsible for: being the primary underwriter for the management and underwriting of allocated renewal book in accordance with underwriting authority for an assigned broker panel; having secondary responsibility, supporting the Development Underwriter, producing and writing new business from assigned broker panel in accordance with underwriting authority; making sound underwriting decisions; supporting Branch in consistently achieving financial plan (premium, loss ratio, retention, commissions, pricing, new business, and expense management through superior service, business retention and responsiveness to new business submissions; interacting and collaborating with the team, Regional Underwriting Offices, Market Segment Colleagues and other critical internal/external business associates; delivering a service delivery to brokers and clients in accordance with Travelers standards.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Underwrite and assess risk to maximise business growth and profitability for allocated broker panel. Make appropriate decisions within own underwriting authority in addition to considered, intelligent and complete recommendations to technical underwriting/business leadership.
• Make prompt, sound decisions within underwriting authority and based on appropriate underwriting information. Negotiate terms and conditions consistent with underwriting requirements and service.
• Understand and execute Travelers’ underwriting strategies and principles to produce budgeted results.
• Working with Development Underwriter on same broker panel, continuously manage book of business, maintaining quality of business, growth and profit.
• Accountable for accurate underwriting documentation and information in account management systems and adherence to Travelers’ documentation standards.
• Actively engage and seek out training opportunities to further develop underwriting expertise.
• Develop and leverage broker/client relationships through a high level of visibility and using a disciplined sales management approach (e.g. planning and follow-up for broker and customer visits/meetings) in support of business objectives.
• Working with Distribution, effectively assist in the development, documentation and execution of sales plans with emphasis on increasing marketing and sales activities outside the office. Work tactically with brokers to ensure they have an appropriate level of understanding of TICL goals and objectives.
• Seek out and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in other business units and regions to foster business development across Travelers.
• Actively participate in regularly scheduled regional and product underwriting and/or sales meetings.
• Demonstrate superior customer service standards (consistency, quick response, knowledge of products) to meet Travelers’ service standards.

Minimum Qualifications
• Previous experience of underwriting in Property and Casualty classes of business.
• Incumbents are required to hold a full, valid driving licence.



Education, Work Experience, & Knowledge
• Degree education preferred.
• Proven experience in underwriting.
• General knowledge of the local insurance marketplace.
• General knowledge of organisational and regulatory rules, policies and procedures and effectively employs that knowledge in day to day work activities.
• General knowledge of technical underwriting.

Licensing or Certificates
• ACII qualification preferred.

Job Specific Technical Skills & Competencies
• Intermediate knowledge and ability required in respect of analytical thinking, judgment, decision making, communication and strong team work. Demonstrates proven ability in enhanced retention strategies.
• Demonstrates intermediate ability in the areas of customer focus and positive broker interaction.
• Demonstrates intermediate knowledge and ability in respect of Microsoft Office systems including Excel and Powerpoint.
• Typically demonstrates intermediate relationship management skills.

Broker Business Developer

 

The Broker Development Executive is responsible and accountable for Broker relationships across Allianz Musical Insurance.

The role is to retain, develop and build on our strong Broker book of business, whilst also identifying new opportunities. This position has the responsibility to support Brokers to maintain compliance to Allianz business standards and regulatory requirements across the Broker portfolio

The candidate will have experience and a demonstrable track record of developing new markets and acquiring new business from existing Brokers. The successful candidate must be able to attract new Brokers and convert new business opportunities by networking, prospecting and negotiating new contracts. The candidate will be able to identify common crossover activities with the AMI team to use the AMI rich customer base, both Broker and retail, to enhance Allianz AMI brand.

Key Responsibilities
• Build and maintain Broker relations by using account management skills
• Conduct face to face business development meetings
• Hold formal quarterly governance and performance reviews based on agreed reporting guidelines.
• Monitor performance of Brokers and report KPI’s monthly to AMI Trading Board
• Using a consultancy approach, understand the business drivers of each broker
• Ensure swift responsiveness to Broker questions and queries
• Regular communication with Brokers
• Manage an early warning system to alert the AMI team to support proactive renewal activities 90 - 60 – 30 days milestones and communications
• Publish quarterly detailed reviews for Brokers to include Loss Ratio, GWP, profit share update, monthly sales figures. Produced with Ops. Present performance metrics and discuss trends
• Manage and negotiate Profit Share and commission arrangements
• Drive the renewal process to ensure secure renewals of Allianz large Orchestra polices
• Deliver new profitable business revenue against agreed targets and metrics
• Support sponsorship events
• Work with Marketing to ensure Brokers understand the AMI product set and sales messages

Role Requirements

This role allows for hybrid working, with travel to the office as required (likely 4-6x/month). This role also requires travel to build and maintain broker relationships across the country.

Insurance Manager


Key Responsibilities

· Daily organisation of workloads within the Team ensuring deadlines and SLAs are met in accordance with company policies and any agreed binding authority agreements

· Management, Training and Development of the Team

· Obtain and review Monthly MI and feedback into the Management Team

· Review QC feedback and implement any actions required

· Manage & record one on one's on a monthly basis and provide summary reports

· Referral point for risks and queries from the Teams

· Be hands on when necessary and work directly with customers to quote or make adjustments to appropriate risks within your granted authority limits

· Handle complaints in line with the current process

· Work with the Management Team to ensure efficient work processes are adhered to and SLAs/deadlines met

· Ensure there is fairness to our customers through procedures, whilst ensuring clear communication with both our internal and external customers, people and partners

Key Skills and Experience

• Minimum 5 experience working in a broking or underwriting environment

• 2 years Supervisory or Management Experience

• CII qualification or working to obtain the qualifications

• Strong leadership qualities

• Strong interpersonal and relationship skills

• Excellent timekeeping and presentation of self and work

MS Office skills are essential, as are excellent communication - verbal and written. Keyboard skills and organisational skills are also required. You need to be positive, enthusiastic and motivational about what you do Honesty, integrity, reputation, competence/capability & financial soundness as required under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) and Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC).

Personal Qualities
• Technical knowledge of the product range, including understanding of the coverage provisions, exclusions and conditions of the policy wordings
• An understanding of the legal principles of insurance and insurance contracts including obligations to insurer
